Family and Kids

Both of our kids were impacted by the challenges to the education and exams that COVID brought. For our eldest, this affected her A Levels, for our youngest, her GCSEs. However, both did amazingly, and we are so proud of them. Our eldest is currently at university. Our youngest has started along a varied career – deciding where she wants to go in life – and is flying along.

Our two girls both want / wanted to drive. In truth, we had hoped to upgrade our family cars this year, but the issues with our roof pretty much wiped out our savings. So, it was back to the drawing board on that one and we had to be prudent on getting the cars for the kids.

The other thing we had planned was holidays. In fact, both COVID and the extension roof debacle ruined a joint 50 / 18 / 16 holiday that was being planned! We had a caravan (and fairly robust car to tow it), and made a decision to sell both and go on those holidays that we always talked about, but never went on. The joint ‘big birthday’ trip was due to be our first, but we a) couldn’t go because of COVID, and b) can’t afford to go now as the pot is currently dry. We’ve since saved up and went away – but that was long overdue. Whilst we had a good time – the delay was a pretty big disappointment that’s for sure!
